Arab Music Diva Sabah Dies At 87

Iconic singer/actress Sabah passed away on Wednesday 26th of November 2014 of natural causes. She was 87. Sabah, who is considered a “Diva of Music” in the Arab World, she has released over 50 albums and has acted in 98 movies as well as over 20 stage plays. She was the first Arabic singer to perform at Olympia in Paris, Carnegie Hall in New York, and Piccadilly Theatre in London and Sydney Opera House in Sydney. Member of The 3 Lebanon icons with Wadih El-Safi and Fairuz.

She has received many awards during her long career, recent awards include: Lifetime Achievement Award from The Dubai International Film Festival, she was honored by the Egyptian Cinema in Cairo and she was honored in Beirut with a statue of herself.

Sabah, who married nine times, is survived by her children Doctor Sabah Shamas and Howaida Monsy.
